Shape-Controlled Crystal Growth of Y3Al5O12:Ce Single Crystals with Application of Micro-Pulling-Down Method and Mo Crucibles, and Their Scintillation Properties

The technology to grow single crystals of the required shape directly from a melt has been researched extensively and developed in various industries research fields. In this study, micro-pulling-down method Mo crucible were applied shape-controlled crystal growth Y3Al5O12:Ce (YAG:Ce). Three types crucibles with different die shapes developed. Stable more than 50 mm length was achieved same as die, scintillation light output ~20,000 ph/MeV, which is comparable those YAG:Ce grown by Cz method, obtained. transmittance above 500 nm 70%. standard deviation (σ) at each position 50-mm-long sample found be within ±16%.
